Our Story.
Fair Enough embarked on its journey in 2017, driven by a vision to challenge the deep-seated injustices within the global fashion industry. As students disillusioned by the scarcity of affordable, ethical, and stylish fashion options, we vowed to create a line of products that not only confront the environmental and societal dilemmas posed by the industry but also resonate with our personal aesthetic desires.
We recognized the complexity of these industry issues: the poor working conditions and wages in production countries, the economic dependency on garment manufacturing, and the environmental toll of clothing production. Yet, we saw a path forward through innovation and compassion. Education emerged as a pivotal tool for breaking the cycle of poverty, and we committed ourselves to contributing to this transformative power.
Our approach was straightforward yet revolutionary. By partnering with NGOs for production, we ensure fair wages and safe working environments. We turned our gaze to repurposing waste materials, rescuing them from landfills to craft our products, thereby reducing environmental impact and promoting a circular economy. Our business model is built on growth and giving back, dedicating our profits entirely to educational initiatives, empowering communities to prioritize schooling and envision a brighter future.
Starting with backpacks crafted from reclaimed textile waste in Cambodia, our product range has grown, but our mission remains unswervingly focused: to blend style with sustainability, responsibility with beauty, and innovation with tradition in every product we create.
Backpacks.
When we founded Fair Enough, backpacks seemed like the natural choice for our initial venture — not only did we adore them, but as high school students, they were an integral part of our daily lives. Committed to sustainability, we decided to source textile waste destined for landfills, thus conserving resources and actively reducing environmental waste. Textile waste, with around 10% of fabrics typically discarded, represented a significant opportunity for impact.
At just 16, finding partners to share our vision was challenging, but our persistence paid off, leading us to an ideal collaboration that turned our sustainable backpack dream into reality. Our journey with backpacks has evolved, continuing today through our sister company Sarowa.de, managed by Benedikt. While Fair Enough continues to pioneer in transforming waste into wearable fashion, consistently striving to scale our impact and redefine the industry standard.
T-Shirts.
Each T-shirt embodies our pledge to eco-conscious fashion, meticulously produced using only renewable energy sources and ensuring all emissions are counterbalanced by excess renewable energy generation. From production to delivery, only recyclable cardboard and paper packaging is used,, steadfastly avoiding PVC.
Every T-shirt is crafted from premium, organic cotton, accredited by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), signifying a product that is as gentle on the planet as it is on your skin. The entire range is vegan, free from animal ingredients and produced under fair and ethical working conditions.
In our local workshop, we use screen printing to infuse each piece with personality, using water-based, eco-friendly inks for prints that are as enduring as they are vibrant. Designed for longevity and minimal environmental impact, our T-shirts are a testament to style and sustainability coexisting in harmony.
Knitwear.
Our knitwear collections are crafted with care by women from marginalized communities in the Indian Himalayas, in partnership with the Indian NGO Kriti Foundation. This collaboration is more than just about creating beautiful knitwear; it's a means of transforming lives. By providing sewing and knitting training, Kriti empowers these women to break free from cycles of domestic abuse and precarious living situations, offering them a pathway to independence and self-reliance.
Each piece of knitwear is a stitch in the fabric of a brighter future, supporting Kriti Foundation's mission and fostering a life of dignity for the women who are integral to our production process. When you choose our knitwear, you're not just selecting a garment; you're supporting a movement towards empowerment and independence.
Tire tubes.
Our collection of bags turns tire and tire tube waste into stylish statements, helping to cleanse the environment while reducing the need for new resources. Each bag is a testament to sustainable fashion, with unique patterns and textures that tell the story of its former life as a tire, ensuring no two are alike.
By adopting these bags, you're not just choosing a unique accessory; you're supporting a cleaner planet and a commitment to innovative, eco-friendly fashion. Each purchase is a step towards a more sustainable and stylish future, where fashion and responsibility go hand in hand.
